Boy have I gotten lazy…busy….overwhelmed….forgetful….What was I saying again?
The last blog was some months ago and I found myself with a couple of hours on a Sunday morning….Keith is finally getting some couch time.So what’s new with us? Well the rumors of a church coming into the empty old Safeway building continue…nothing confirmed yet. We aren’t waiting though!! We are plowing ahead with plans to open another location…we would love nothing more than to have a little diner in each little corner of our lovely Longmont, CO!! Building a small business with your husband, wife, partner, etc has lots of challenges….not the least in which we are also trying to raise some kids (2), help out my parents (2), keep all dogs (3) from killing the one cat we still have!! When we said “for better, or worse”….we meant it!!!
That said, its never been dull! Would you or your spouse (partner) like to run your own little diner like ours? We love our regular customers, that turn into family and believe its those relationships that make life worth living! Maybe its old fashioned to say this but we love what we do and where we do it!! To all our regulars out there….you know who you are….Bill (3 eggs), Sue (overmedium), Dick (no meat), Dorothy (hot tea, please), Ted (3 pancakes for the boy), Dan (French toast fan), Elaine’s church group (can’t forget the coffee!) and the list goes on and on… Thank you for all your patronage and we look forward to serving you soon!!

A virus? What? Close down????

Ok, so I know its been a hot sec…but….well….we’ve been busy? Um, pretty sure you know thats not true. We haven’t blogged in a long time and its not because of the pandemic……well, thats mostly true.

As many of you may know we closed our doors in Sept 2019 due to lack of foot traffic in the shopping center. We spotted a great location still here in Longmont and at the end of 2019 it looked like we might get a lease! Paper being what it is and attorney’s needing time that they do, meant that delays were on the way….so we waited. Scoped out a few second sites and even got a little bit involved with another property in Frederick…alas then Jan 2020, turned into Feb 2020 and news came out that someone in a lab far, far away had done something really wrong. Our catering contract with Baker Hughes would give us some insight to how quickly business with that part of the world was soon coming to a stand still. Before we knew it, our governor shut all the eateries down…March 14th. Ugh. If only we sold liquor or marijuana!!!! We could have stayed open. Oh well.

So we did what most all other small businesses did….call in favors, apply for every grant, and loan possible and order masks. Our favorite bank, High Plains Bank (well known in these parts to being very kind to family businesses) helped us get the first and second PPP and we were able to pay staff. We pivoted just like everyone else and started helping with cleaning and sanitizing at BH….serving coffee thru plexiglass and sneaking treats to them on Wednesdays!

We know a lot of our fellow business owners didn’t make it and for those like us that got super creative….here’s to you!!! We miss our customers greatly and will be concentrating on catering for the forseeable future….so please call us if you need a little bit of help with food or party prep….its still Keith and I and we are excited to serve our community!
